Create or edit a template

  1. Add a template or open an existing one.
  2. Choose an internal name, message type and language. Confirmation and reminder are separate categories.
  3. Write the subject and preview text.
  4. Open Edit content and use the editor to adjust text, images and layout.
  5. Use that message type’s available variables to personalize content. Keep required action links such as confirmation, cancellation or payment.
  6. Check the preview, activate the template and save.
Do not copy marketing variables without checking them: available data depends on the message type.

Which template is selected?

For a restaurant reservation, EatNow looks for an active template of the right type and language: first one linked to the shift, then one without shift restrictions. For an activity, it first looks for a template linked to a product in the cart, then one without product restrictions. When several templates match at the same level, their order matters. Avoid equivalent active templates if you expect a specific choice. Where a standard EatNow message exists, it is used when no custom template matches. The language is French for a French-language reservation or activity customer, and English for other languages. Prepare both versions. Duplicate into another language can offer automatic translation; review it before activation.

Example

For special-evening instructions, create a confirmation linked to that shift. Keep a general confirmation for other shifts and prepare the English version too.

The customer gets old content or no email

Check restaurant, type, language, activation, shift/product and template order. For missing emails, also check the channel, customer address and notification switches. A valid preview does not prove delivery: check the result on a test booking agreed with your team, using an address you control.
