# Business verification rejected

> What to do if Meta rejects your WhatsApp business verification — the most common rejection reasons and how to fix them and resubmit.

If Meta rejected your business verification, you're not alone — it's one of the most common issues businesses face when setting up WhatsApp Business. The good news: you get **up to 3 attempts** to fix the issues and resubmit.

<Note>
  This page follows the [business verification](/whatsapp/verification) step. If you haven't started verification yet, begin there.
</Note>

## Understand why you were rejected

Open the **Security Center** in your Meta Business settings ([Security Center](https://business.facebook.com/settings/security)) and click **Learn More** next to the rejected verification. Meta tells you the specific reason your request was denied.

Once you understand the issue, fix it and click **Get Started** to submit again.

## Common rejection reasons

### 1. Wrong type of document

Meta only accepts specific types of business documents. This is the most common reason for rejection.

**Accepted documents:**

| Document                                 | Notes                                                                                |
| ---------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Certificate of Incorporation / Formation | Or equivalent in your country |
| Articles of Incorporation                |                                                                                      |
| Business license or permit | Must be currently valid |
| Business tax registration | VAT certificate, tax ID, or equivalent |
| Business bank account statement | Must show business name and address |
| Utility bill (in business name) | Electricity, water, phone, internet |
| Government-issued business ID | Country-specific registrations (Chamber of Commerce extract, trade register excerpt) |
| Business credit report                   |                                                                                      |

<Warning>
  **Not accepted:** invoices or purchase orders, self-filled application forms, personal tax returns, personal bank statements, website printouts, flyers, letterheads, marketing materials, or screenshots.
</Warning>

### 2. Information doesn't match

The details on your documents must **exactly match** what you entered in your Meta Business Portfolio. Meta cross-checks four things:

* **Legal business name** — Must be character-for-character identical (including "Ltd", "LLC", "GmbH", "S.A.", etc.)
* **Physical address** — Same format and spelling as on your document
* **Phone number** — A verifiable business phone number
* **Website** — A working website that shows your legal business name and logo

<Warning>
  **Most common mistake:** using a shortened or informal business name. If your registration says "ABC Technologies Limited", don't enter "ABC Tech" — it will be rejected.
</Warning>

### 3. Documents not in a supported language

Meta only accepts documents in these languages:

Arabic, Bengali, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese.

If your documents are in a different language, get an **official translation** with a certified stamp from a recognized translating agency. Submit both the original **and** the translation.

### 4. Documents are unreadable or expired

Your documents must be:

* **Clear and legible** — No blurry photos, cropped edges, or low-resolution scans
* **Complete** — All pages visible, nothing cut off
* **Current** — Not expired. Utility bills should be recent (within 3–6 months)
* **Unedited** — No whiteout, no digital alterations

<Tip>
  Scan your documents with a proper scanner or a document scanning app (like Adobe Scan or CamScanner). Phone camera photos taken at an angle are a common cause of rejection.
</Tip>

### 5. Meta requested additional documents and you missed it

Sometimes Meta asks for supplementary documents after your initial submission. These requests have a **deadline** — if you miss it, your application is automatically rejected.

Check your email (including the spam folder) and the **Direct Support** tab in Meta Business Manager for any pending requests from Meta.

## How to resubmit

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Security Center">
    Go to the [Security Center](https://business.facebook.com/settings/security) in your Meta Business settings.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the rejection reason carefully">
    Fix the specific issue that was flagged (wrong document type, mismatched info, etc.).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Submit a new request">
    Click **Get Started** to submit a new request. Double-check every detail before hitting submit.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  You have **3 total attempts**. If all 3 are rejected, you'll need to contact Meta support directly to resolve the issue.
</Warning>
