# Pair your tables

> Link every table on your EatNow floor plan to its twin in NowOS. This is what makes seating travel in both directions.

EatNow and NowOS each have their own floor plan. For a seating made on one side to be understood on the other, every EatNow table must be **paired** with a NowOS table.

<Warning>
  This is the most important part of the setup. An unpaired table is **invisible to the till**: EatNow can't seat a guest there from its side, and a seating made on the floor won't come back correctly.

## Before you start

The floor plan must be **published** in NowOS (NowOS back office → **Tables → Floor plan** → **Publish all changes**). EatNow reads the table list straight from that published plan: if nothing is published, the list will be empty.

## Pair a table

  <Step title="Open your floor plan">
    In the EatNow sidebar, click **Room plan**. The **My rooms** page lists your rooms.

  <Step title="Open the room you want to set up">
    Click the room. The plan editor opens.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select a table">
    Click a table on the plan. The right-hand panel opens on the **Tables** tab and shows that table's settings.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the matching NowOS table">
    Scroll to the **POS Table** field and open the list. It contains every table from your published NowOS plan, with its label (*T12*, *B4*…). Pick the one that physically matches the selected table.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Repeat for every table, then save">
    Do the same for all tables in the room, then click **Save changes**. Repeat for each room.

<Tip>
  A NowOS table already paired with another EatNow table **no longer appears** in the list. That's on purpose: a NowOS table can only be linked to one EatNow table.

## Check your pairings

In the plan editor, a correctly paired table shows a **small NowOS logo** next to its name in the table list. On the plan itself, a discreet square marker appears on the table.

Walk through your rooms: any table without that marker isn't paired.

<Note>
  Tables that only exist in EatNow (a spare table, an outdoor table the till doesn't handle) can stay unpaired. They work normally in EatNow — the till simply won't know about them.

## Automatic floor plan import

If you're starting from a floor plan that's **already complete in EatNow** and a blank NowOS, the EatNow team can run a **one-shot import**: your rooms, your tables (with their shape, seat count and position) and your decorations are recreated in NowOS, and the pairings are set up automatically.

  <Step title="Ask EatNow support for the import">
    Contact support with your location name. The import runs from our tools, not from your interface.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the imported plan in NowOS">
    Open **Tables → Floor plan** in the NowOS back office. Adjust positions if needed.

  <Step title="Publish">
    Tap **Publish all changes**, then **Refresh** on the main register.
  </Step>

<Warning>
  The import only works on a NowOS plan that is **still empty**. If tables have already been drawn on the NowOS side, the import is refused so it can't overwrite your work — in that case, pair by hand as described above.

## When the NowOS floor plan changes

Added, renamed or deactivated a table in NowOS? EatNow picks it up automatically as soon as you publish the new plan.

| What you do in NowOS         | What to do in EatNow                                            |
| ---------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| You add a table              | Create the matching table in EatNow and pair it.                |
| You rename a table           | Nothing. Pairing is based on an identifier, not on the label.   |
| You move a table on the plan | Nothing. The two plans stay visually independent.               |
| You **deactivate** a table   | Remove the pairing on the EatNow side, or deactivate the table. |

<Note>
  NowOS doesn't let you **delete** a published table, only **deactivate** it — precisely so your pairings and your order history never point at nothing.

## Common problems

  <Accordion title="The “POS Table” list is empty">
    Three possible causes:

    * **The NowOS floor plan isn't published yet.** Publish it, then reload the EatNow page.
    * **Every NowOS table is already paired** with another EatNow table.
    * **The integration isn't connected, or was disabled.** Check the NowOS card in **Settings → Integrations → Integrations list**.

  <Accordion title="The “POS Table” field doesn't show at all">
    The field only appears when a POS is connected. Connect NowOS first — see [Connect NowOS](/nowos/connect).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="A seating made in EatNow is refused by the till">
    The reservation's **History** tab then shows an *Exchange with NowOS* line marked **failed**. Two causes:

    * **The table was already taken** when the instruction arrived — a walk-in grabbed it in the meantime. Re-seat the party on another table.
    * **The table isn't paired.** Finish the pairing, then seat again.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The floor changed the table on the till, but EatNow recorded nothing">
    If **even one** of the tables picked on the floor isn't paired in EatNow, the change is refused **as a whole** — never half-applied. EatNow then sends its own tables back to the till, which visibly reverts to them. Finish the missing pairing and repeat the gesture.
