# My preferences

> Choose what you personally receive, without changing anything for the rest of the team — on web and in the app.

Every collaborator can turn a notification on or off **for themselves only**. The rest of the team is unaffected, and any row you have not touched keeps following the [restaurant default](/notifications/team-defaults).

## Where to set them

    Tap your **avatar** at the top of the screen, then **Preferences > Notifications**.

    This is the most complete place: you set both **Push** *and* **In-app** (the notification center cards), and every switch saves immediately — there is no "Save" button.

    Open **My profile** (avatar, top right), then the **Notifications** tab.

    You set **Push** there, restaurant by restaurant if you work for several. Finish with **Save**.

## How it works

Every row has three possible states, even though you only see two:

  <Step title="Inherited — the starting state">
    You have not touched it: you receive whatever the restaurant decided. The switch reflects that default. If the restaurant changes its mind, you follow automatically.

  <Step title="On or Off — your own choice">
    The moment you touch a switch, that row becomes **yours** and stops following the restaurant. A counter at the bottom of the screen reminds you how many rows you have customized.

  <Step title="Going back">
    An undo arrow appears next to every customized row (in the app: **Back to the restaurant default**). The **Reset to defaults** button clears all your customizations at once.

<Tip>
  This difference matters when things change. If you turn a row **Off**, it stays off even if the restaurant turns it on for everyone next week. If what you really want is to "do like everyone else", use **Reset to defaults** rather than turning everything off by hand.

## Settings are per restaurant

If you work for several venues, your preferences are **separate for each one**. A restaurant selector sits at the top of the screen on web; in the app, preferences follow the currently selected restaurant.

## What you cannot change yourself

    They go to the restaurant's shared inbox, never to your personal address. That is a restaurant setting. To be alerted personally, use **push**.

    Inquiries pending confirmation and AI agent escalations stay visible in your notification center. You can, however, turn their **push** off.

  <Accordion title="Notifications you are not allowed to see">
    A row missing from your screen means your role does not have the matching permission — or that the feature is not enabled on this restaurant. See [Permissions](/collaborators/permissions).

## Setting a collaborator's preferences

Owners can view and change someone else's preferences: **Settings > Collaborators >** the person **> Notification preferences**.

This is useful when a collaborator says they receive nothing: you immediately see whether they turned rows off, how many they customized, and you can reset everything back to the defaults for them. That screen shows both the **Push** and **In-app** columns.

  You are editing **someone else's** settings there. Tell them: they get no alert when their preferences are changed.
