# Import customers and reservations

> Prepare a CSV, map its columns and check import results.

Open **Settings → Integrations → Imports**, then choose **Reservations** or
**Customers**. Use a **CSV** file; export Excel workbooks to CSV first.

## Prepare and map columns

1. Check the destination restaurant.
2. Select a file with a header row.
3. Check the separator and sample rows: shifted columns often mean a wrong
   delimiter or invalid quoting.
4. Map each column to the intended EatNow property; leave **No action** for
   unused columns.
5. Set the date format to match the file and check skipped rows.
6. Fix parsing errors before clicking **Import … rows**.

For reservations, map date, time, party size and contact details. Available
fields also include room, tables, status, source, comments, allergies, tags and
**External ID**. Use the labels actually configured at your location.

For customers, map contact details and the offered information, including active
custom fields already created under
[Customers → Custom fields](/customers/custom-fields).

## Avoid duplicates

For reservations, retain and map the source system’s **External ID** where
available: the import skips identifiers already imported for that restaurant.
Without a stable identifier, do not expect the same protection.

Customer import is not a general merge tool for existing records. Clean the file
and inspect the result before running the same batch again.

## After launching

“Import launched” confirms the start, not that every row succeeded. Processing
continues in the background. Review progress, errors and skipped rows, then open
a sample of imported records to check dates, phone numbers, rooms and statuses.

If progress details are insufficient, provide support with the restaurant,
filename, launch time and errors. Do not repeatedly launch an import still
running.
