# Floor plan settings and automation

> Choose seating rules, late thresholds and automatic status changes.

Open **Settings → Floor plan → General**, then save your changes. These settings
apply to the restaurant; configure shift capacities and durations under
[Availability → Shifts](/shifts/capacity-and-rooms).

## Display and manual seating

* **Enable floor plan**: use rooms and tables to organize seating. Build the
layout in the floor plan itself.
* **Scrollable floor plan**: adapts navigation for larger layouts.
* **Inline reservation comments**: makes notes more visible during service.
* **Quick seating**: streamlines seating operations.
* **Tableless walk-ins**: records a walk-in before assigning a table.
* **Force table assignment**: allows seating despite certain constraints. Check
  actual availability before forcing.
* **Flag large groups**: marks relevant days in the date selector; the threshold
  does not block bookings.

## Auto-assignment

Enable auto-assignment if you want EatNow to allocate tables automatically.

**Trigger**

* **On every change**: reruns on creation, modification, cancellation, deletion
  and expiry.
* **On creation only**: later changes keep current assignments.

**Strategy**

* **Minimize combinations**: favors a single table over a combination.
* **Minimize wasted seats**: aims to use seats efficiently, even when combining
  tables.

**Room priority**

* **No priority**: searches suitable tables across rooms.
* **Prefer room order**: follows the order but can deviate to preserve capacity.
* **Strict room order**: prioritizes that order firmly, potentially reducing
  overall occupancy.

For example, use room priority to fill indoors before the terrace. Making it
strict is an operational choice, not an increase in capacity.

## Late, no-show and automatic completion

The **late threshold** signals lateness; it does not itself mark a booking as
no-show.

**Automatic no-show** applies to reservations still confirmed after the booking
time plus the threshold. Mark customers arrived or seated to reflect their
presence.

**Automatically mark as done** uses the booking time plus the planned stay
duration **and** the configured extra delay. For a 20:00 booking, a 120-minute
stay and a 30-minute threshold, the reference is 22:30, not 20:30. Eligible
statuses are Arrived, Seated and Seated for drinks.

These checks run periodically, not exactly to the second. A reservation
recognized as being served by the POS can be protected from these automations.
See [NowOS](/nowos/daily-workflow) and
[Statuses](/operations/reservation-statuses).

## Detect potential no-show customers

The threshold is a percentage of no-shows in past booking history, with more
than one past reservation before flagging starts. The periodic calculation can
also remove the flag. It does not add the customer to the
[blacklist](/portal/blacklist).

If tables remain unavailable, also check [blocks](/floor-plan/block-table),
shift duration, strict seating and existing assignments.
